PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thaddeus Greco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Uppercutt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uppercutt has chosen You can't stop me now as his entrance music. Lance Uppercutt told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Greco throws a head kick that misses.
Uppercutt shoots and misses
and Greco counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Uppercutt shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Greco counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Uppercutt is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Greco falls off balance throwing a combination

and Uppercutt counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Greco has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Uppercutt is working away from the top position though.

Uppercutt is looking for a kimura but Greco is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Uppercutt to get the leverage.

Uppercutt is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Greco has managed to free his arm - good work.
Greco controlling the position for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Greco is trying to stand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Thaddeus Greco.
Uppercutt shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Greco counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Thaddeus Greco has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lance Uppercutt.
Greco chips away with some ground and pound.
Greco makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Uppercutt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Greco doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Greco manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Uppercutt looking for a guillotine here but Greco defends easily.
Greco trying to control but Uppercutt is working from the bottom.
Greco knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Uppercutt on the ground.

Uppercutt had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Greco defends it easily.
Greco will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Uppercutt looks gassed!

Greco slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Greco wants to control from the top but Uppercutt keeps moving.

Uppercutt is looking for a triangle but Greco pushes his legs off easily.

Greco lands a couple of elbows.

Uppercutt has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Greco is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Uppercutt.

Uppercutt tries to bench press Greco off him but Greco keeps the position.
Uppercutt is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Greco decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Greco counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Uppercutt!
Greco wants to control the pace but Uppercutt is squirming around nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thaddeus Greco dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

The crowd cheers as Greco lands an impressive looking overhand right. Uppercutt doesn't seem phased though.
Greco's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Greco duly obliges.
Uppercutt on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Uppercutt fails with the takedown
and Greco counters with a head kick that wobbles Uppercutt - left then right he sways and one more bomb from Greco sends him down. This one is all over!
