The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Golden fails in his attempt to clinch.

Golden shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fernandez's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Golden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Golden looking to sit in guard and control but Fernandez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Golden will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Golden seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
