Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phil Ivey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivey comes to the cage accompanied by Friday. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

With a record of 13 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson works the jab nicely.
Ivey takes a swing at Anderson's ribcage but misses.
A cross from Ivey lands.
Ivey throws an off balance right hand
and Anderson counters with an outside leg kick.
Anderson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ivey defending well as Anderson loads up on a big left hand.
Ivey shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Anderson as he avoids it easily.

Ivey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Anderson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Anderson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Ivey backs up against the cage.
Anderson misses with a hook
and Ivey counters with a nice body kick.
Anderson throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Ivey counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
A chopping leg kick lands by Ivey.

Ivey takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Anderson on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Ivey. Ivey obviously looking to wear him down.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Ivey counters with a nice uppercut.
Anderson throws a leg kick
and Ivey cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Anderson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ivey has time to react.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Anderson misses with a shot to the body
and Anderson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Anderson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Ivey misses the shot to the body.
Ivey throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A low kick from Anderson misses
and Ivey counters with a good low kick that Anderson was not able to check.

Ivey throws a low kick but it's checked well by Anderson.
Anderson misses with an uppercut
and Ivey counters with a series of strikes. Anderson will be more careful next time no doubt.
Sam Anderson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Anderson throws the left hand but Ivey avoids the punch easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Anderson throws a low kick, looking for Ivey's leg but Ivey calmly moves out of range.
Ivey misses the shot to the body.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sam Anderson wasn't active enough on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Anderson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ivey eats them both and turns towards Anderson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

and Ivey counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Sam Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ivey takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Anderson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Ivey fails with the takedown.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Anderson slips under a jab from Ivey.

and Anderson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Anderson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ivey looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Ivey crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Anderson - the referee stops the clock and Ivey gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Anderson. Ivey manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Ivey drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Ivey trying to control the position from guard on top but Anderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Anderson pulls Ivey in close to his closed guard and prevents Ivey from doing any damage or advancing position.

and Ivey counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Anderson looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Anderson is looking to stand back up but Ivey counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Anderson.

Anderson tries to roll over but Ivey keeps him under control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Ivey tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Anderson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
