PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Amund Farifteh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Amund Farifteh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Sanders!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanders misses with a leg kick
and Farifteh counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Farifteh shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Sanders eats them both and turns towards Farifteh to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Chris Sanders has been cut.

Farifteh scores with a takedown into Sanders's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Sanders is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Farifteh wants to stand and escape but instead Sanders has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Farifteh is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sanders is controlling him.
Sanders wants to control from the top but Farifteh keeps moving.
Sanders passes Farifteh's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Farifteh is looking to get back to is feet but Sanders passes into side control.

Farifteh throws Sanders to one side and escapes!

Farifteh closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sanders did well to prevent Farifteh getting side control.
Farifteh knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanders on the ground.
Farifteh wants to stand but Sanders has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Farifteh wants to stand up but Sanders manages to regain full guard.
Farifteh has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Sanders has his hands on Farifteh's head, controlling the position.

Farifteh postures up.

Farifteh gets to his feet - Sanders follows without any prompting.
Farifteh lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sanders circles away quickly and effectively.
Farifteh will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Farifteh is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sanders regains half guard.

Sanders tries to roll over but Farifteh keeps him under control.
Farifteh tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Farifteh wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Sanders uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Sanders is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Farifteh wants to stand and escape but instead Sanders has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Farifteh manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Sanders avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
An inside leg kick from Farifteh misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Farifteh tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Farifteh shoots in for a double leg but Sanders sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Amund Farifteh dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Chris Sanders's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Farifteh lands a head kick!
Sanders tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Farifteh doesn't manage to clinch there - Sanders circles away.
Farifteh throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Sanders counters with a takedown into side control.
Sanders advances to full mount.
Farifteh is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Sanders tries to control but Farifteh wriggling away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Farifteh's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Sanders tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Farifteh has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Farifteh is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Well, with Sanders on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Farifteh is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Sanders is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Farifteh has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Sanders has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Farifteh taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Sanders doesn't care though - he's delighted!
