PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yossi Avitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mao Zedong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Avitan comes into the arena with Tagidi Li Masheu blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mao Zedong!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zedong swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Zedong throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Avitan counters with a body kick.
Avitan's jab looks to have found its range, popping Zedong under the eye.
Zedong throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Avitan lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Zedong throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Avitan counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Zedong looks gassed!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A shot to the body from Zedong misses
and Avitan counters with a nice low kick that buckles Zedong's knee momentarily.
Zedong chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Avitan can pounce on him.

Avitan lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Avitan lands with an uppercut that bounces Zedong off the cage and back into rage.
Avitan cracks Zedong with a good jab.

Avitan lands a shoulder strike.

Avitan will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Zedong up against the cage.

Avitan lands an elbow that stopped Zedong in his tracks for a moment.
Zedong wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Avitan is working Zedong over against the cage.
Zedong takes an elbow to the temple.
Zedong is trying to break the clinch but Avitan has him pressed against the cage.
Avitan stalls.
Avitan pushes Zedong back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Avitan creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Zedong's defenses.

It looks like Mao Zedong has been cut.
Avitan lands a nice elbow.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Avitan obliges.
Avitan will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Zedong up against the cage.

Avitan unloads a knee to the mid-section. Zedong lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Avitan throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Avitan connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Avitan scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Avitan lands a big head kick that sends Zedong tumbling to the mat! Avitan takes a step backwards and waves Zedong back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Zedong is rocked!

Avitan gets a clinch.
Zedong is still on wobbly legs! Can Avitan finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Avitan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Good leg kick by Avitan there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Zedong seems to have recovered his senses.

Avitan sends Zedong crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Avitan is motioning to the referee to let Zedong up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

That has opened up Mao Zedong's cut even more.
Zedong sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
BOOM! Avitan lands a beautiful left hook that drops Zedong. Zedong tries to recover but Avitan is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Zedong lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
