PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ben Dingdown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marty Mc Fly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Dingdown might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Baggy Trousers. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ben Dingdown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marty Mc Fly!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Marco Blurström.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mc Fly will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mc Fly dives in and grabs Dingdown's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dingdown pushes down on Mc Fly's head and hops out.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Dingdown, right into the meat.
Mc Fly tries to close the distance and clinch but Dingdown swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dingdown throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Mc Fly counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mc Fly.
Dingdown is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Dingdown is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Marty Mc Fly wasn't active enough on the ground.

Dingdown throws a quick inside leg kick.
Mc Fly blocks a head kick by Dingdown.
Dingdown goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Oooooh!!! Dingdown has knocked Mc Fly down with a huge combo! Dingdown steps away and waves a wobbly Mc Fly back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Dingdown throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mc Fly.
Dingdown throws a right and a left that both miss.
Dingdown comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Dingdown cracks Mc Fly with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Mc Fly gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Nice uppercut there from Dingdown.

Mc Fly prevents Dingdown from standing back up.
Mc Fly is trying to control. Dingdown wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Mc Fly trying to mount his opponent but Dingdown defends it.

Mc Fly is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dingdown is just riding it out for now. Mc Fly eventually gives up the hold.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mc Fly is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dingdown doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mc Fly.
Mc Fly is pressing down on Dingdown's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dingdown is holding on for now.
Still in half guard, Mc Fly seems content to control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mc Fly throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Dingdown is refusing to be controlled, as Mc Fly sits in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Dingdown counters with a big head kick but Mc Fly shrugs it off.
Dingdown uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mc Fly has time to react.
Mc Fly dips to his left and cracks Dingdown with an uppercut!
No joy there for Dingdown, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mc Fly tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dingdown swivels and escapes.
Ben Dingdown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marty Mc Fly.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

so Mc Fly counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Mc Fly postures up.
Mc Fly tries to free his leg and advance position but Dingdown is retaining full guard.
Mc Fly looking to sit in guard and control but Dingdown gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mc Fly is breathing heavily.
Mc Fly wants to stand up but Dingdown is controlling him.

Dingdown keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mc Fly's head.

Mc Fly has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dingdown can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Marty Mc Fly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mc Fly takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Ben Dingdown showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dingdown, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
