Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Junior Dos Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dos Santos forces Johnson back against the cage and clinches.
Johnson lands an uppercut.
Johnson fails to pull guard.

Dos Santos manages to break the clinch.
Johnson with a poor takedown
and Dos Santos counters with a big head kick but Johnson shrugs it off.
Johnson shoots and misses

and Dos Santos holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Junior Dos Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Johnson.
Johnson is working for takedown but Dos Santos is calmly controlling the position for now.
Dos Santos throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Dos Santos has Johnson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Dos Santos pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Johnson tumbling to the mat - Dos Santos dives into Johnson's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Johnson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Johnson tries to strike from the bottom.
Dos Santos looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Johnson advances to half guard.
Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Johnson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Johnson gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Dos Santos shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Dos Santos is breathing heavily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Junior Dos Santos.

Dos Santos takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Johnson tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Dos Santos counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Johnson manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Dos Santos gets caught flat footed, as Johnson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Dos Santos thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dos Santos sprawls well. Dos Santos wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.

Dos Santos scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dos Santos throws a strike but Johnson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior Dos Santos dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Dos Santos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dos Santos looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Johnson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Dos Santos manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Johnson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Dos Santos's guard.
Johnson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Dos Santos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnson on the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Johnson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Johnson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Johnson tries to clinch but Dos Santos is having none of it.
Johnson scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Johnson fails to land the takedown.
Johnson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Dos Santos eats them both and turns towards Johnson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

and Johnson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Dos Santos!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Junior Dos Santos. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dos Santos tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control.

Dos Santos is trying to control but Johnson manages to pass to mount!
The referee warns Dos Santos that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Johnson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Dos Santos reaches up to try and control the position but Johnson seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Dos Santos rolls and tries to escape and now Johnson has his back!
Johnson is landing with strikes. Dos Santos can't take much more of this.

You can see the frustration on Dos Santos's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Johnson shoots for a takedown but Dos Santos saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Dos Santos takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dos Santos walks away with a smile on his face. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dos Santos's waist but Dos Santos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side.

Johnson makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Johnson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dos Santos on his heels. He'll look to pass Dos Santos's guard now, I'm sure.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Dos Santos holds on and takes a little breather.

Johnson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Dos Santos wants to clinch up but Johnson keeps it at a distance.
Johnson throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Dos Santos tries for a takedown but Johnson circles away easily

and Johnson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Johnson.
Johnson wants to control from the top but Dos Santos keeps moving.
Johnson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dos Santos works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Dos Santos is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Johnson is controlling him.
Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dos Santos swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Johnson tries for a kimura but Dos Santos is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to John Johnson.
I think Johnson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
