The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendis tries to land a front kick but Brunson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Brunson circles away from the clinch attempt
and Brunson counters by moving into the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Brunson scores with a nice hook to the head.
Mendis throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Brunson blocks it with crossed arms.
Mendis is trying to stall.
Brunson lands a left hand.

and Brunson counters with a straight right hand.

Mendis goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Brunson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Brunson duly obliges.
Mendis is rocked!

Mendis looks up at the clock. Bad move! Brunson lands a right hand from hell, dropping Mendis. Brunson pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
