The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
James shoots in for a takedown but Randolph shows good takedown defense.
James shoots in and drives through. Randolph sprawls well.

Randolph scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
A lull in the action here as Randolph stalls from top position.

Randolph wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by James, who protects the arm well.
Randolph is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Randolph thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Randolph stands and throws James's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Randolph is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but James is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
James tries to get back to half guard but can't.

James has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Randolph. Oh but James has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Randolph goes limp - he's gone! James jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
