PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Javier Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Blok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mark Blok was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Javier Xavier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blok fails to land the takedown.
Xavier throws a lazy uppercut

and Blok counters with a nice double leg into side control. Xavier won't be happy with that.

Blok tries for a kimura but Xavier is defending well.

Blok goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Xavier has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Blok but great work by Xavier.
Blok pushes Xavier away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Xavier gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Xavier stands up.
Xavier looks to throw the jab but Blok is out of range.

and Blok counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Xavier!

Blok takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Blok goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Xavier turns into him and now he's in Blok's guard.

Xavier stands up from Blok's guard - Xavier perhaps looking for a knockout.
Xavier smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

It looks like Mark Blok has been cut.
Xavier bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Javier Xavier is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Xavier throws a right and a left that both miss.

Xavier connects with a crisp jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Blok avoids a punch combination nicely.

Blok darts in and clinches Xavier up against the cage.
Blok drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Xavier gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Xavier really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Blok shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Xavier pinned against the cage. Xavier gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Xavier wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Xavier is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Blok.
Xavier scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Blok misses with a takedown
and Xavier counters with a stiff right hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Xavier throws a jab but it's blocked by Blok.
Xavier changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Xavier lands a lovely overhand right.
Blok takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Xavier sends Blok crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Xavier is motioning to the referee to let Blok up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Blok is rocked!
Xavier lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!
