PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bestigor Tazar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lasse Willemoes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tazar kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Beastmaster's Fortress. Willemoes has chosen Rage Against The Machine- Bomb Track as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lasse Willemoes!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Jonathan Paton.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tazar tries to clinch there but Willemoes circles away.
Tazar takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Willemoes thows a body shot but no joy.
Willemoes misses with an uppercut. Tazar saw that one coming.
Willemoes scores with a body shot.
Willemoes throws a lazy right hand but Tazar sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Tazar.
Willemoes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tazar sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Willemoes somewhat.

Tazar ducks under a wild hook from Willemoes.
Tazar throws a head kick that Willemoes semi-blocks.
Tazar tries to clinch there but Willemoes circles away.
Willemoes ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Willemoes has a takedown stuffed.

Willemoes with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Willemoes misses with a wild body shot.
Tazar pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tazar throws a lazy uppercut
and Willemoes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Willemoes looks to land a left hand but Tazar moved out of range nicely.

Willemoes tries to bum rush Tazar with a series of wild strikes but Tazar uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tazar is looking to clinch but Willemoes is avoiding it.
Tazar throws a lazy uppercut
and Willemoes counters with a nice uppercut.
Willemoes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tazar as he jumps to the side.
Bestigor Tazar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lasse Willemoes.
Tazar takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Tazar throws a right hand that misses

and Willemoes counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tazar is looking to improve his position.

Willemoes wants to work for an arm triangle but Tazar is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Willemoes keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Willemoes seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Willemoes lands a nice short elbow.
Tazar wants to get back to full guard.
Willemoes missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Willemoes is looking for a kimura here.
Willemoes is taking a breather. Tazar says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Tazar takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Tazar lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Willemoes takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Tazar tries to land a front kick but Willemoes steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Willemoes slips a straight right by Tazar.
Tazar displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Willemoes throws out the jab.

Tazar looks to throw a body kick
and Willemoes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Willemoes takes one on the button.
Tazar throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Tazar slips a jab from Willemoes.
Tazar just misses with a punch to the body.
Willemoes misses with a body shot.

Willemoes tests Tazar's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Willemoes misses with a wild body shot.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
A swing and a miss from Willemoes.
Tazar misses with a looping right.
Willemoes misses with a straight left.
Willemoes fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Tazar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Willemoes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tazar moves away.
A bone on bone clash there as Willemoes blocks the leg kick.
Willemoes jabs Tazar to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Willemoes swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Tazar.
Tazar takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Tazar tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Willemoes.
Willemoes is looking to take a break and control but Tazar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Tazar on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Willemoes working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tazar takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Tazar is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Lasse Willemoes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Tazar walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Willemoes waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Tazar.
Tazar moves out of range as Willemoes strikes.
Willemoes connects with a single shot there.
Lasse Willemoes seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Willemoes's corner calls for a 1-2. Willemoes obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Tazar jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Willemoes gets the takedown into side control.

Willemoes misses with the ground and pound.
Tazar takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Tazar is rocked!
A big shot lands for Willemoes! That's hurt Tazar! Will he recover? Willemoes fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
