Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chris Masters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jon Rolland!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rolland misses with a takedown attempt

and Masters counters with a single leg into guard. Rolland didn't expect that.
Rolland looking to hit a scissor sweep but Masters is one step ahead there.
Masters engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Masters is pushing down on Rolland's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rolland is fighting to maintain full guard but Masters has managed to sneak the leg through.

Masters is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Masters uses his free foot to push down on Rolland's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rolland.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Masters takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Masters throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Masters sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Masters controlling from mount.

Masters is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Rolland is surviving well by controlling Masters's body position as best he can.
Masters content just to control the position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Masters prevents Rolland from getting the reversal.
Rolland gets back to half guard.
Masters sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Masters thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Rolland wants to get back to full guard.
Masters takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Masters throwing shots but Rolland is blocking nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rolland is in trouble now - Masters has advanced to mount!
Masters avoids the attempt from Rolland to control.
Masters sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Masters has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Rolland is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Masters controlling from mount.
Masters punching from mount but Rolland doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Rolland wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
What can Rolland do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Rolland is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Masters gets his way!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Masters dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Masters shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rolland's guard.
Masters slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
A lull in the action here as Masters stalls from top position.
Masters seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rolland for as long as he can get away with.
Rolland tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Masters throws a strike aimed at the side of Rolland's head but Rolland avoids it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rolland tries to bench press Masters off him but Masters keeps the position.

Masters is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rolland has escaped the position, nice work there.

Masters is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rolland is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Rolland is looking for a sweep.
Masters is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Masters throws an elbow but Rolland slips to the side and avoids it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Masters wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rolland, who protects the arm well.
Masters controlling from side mount.
Rolland regains half guard.

Masters is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rolland sees it coming and defends easily.

Masters in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Rolland tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Masters!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Chris Masters!
