PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ukko Kullervo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jwan Hakari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kullervo comes to the cage accompanied by Moonsorrow - Ukkosenjumalan Poika. Hakari is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by No Control by Bullet for my Valentime. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ukko Kullervo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jwan Hakari!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Kenichi Hosakawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kullervo has a takedown stuffed.

Hakari slips a jab and a cross from Kullervo.
Kullervo swings for the body but Hakari moves out of range.
No joy there for Kullervo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kullervo misses with a few strikes there.

Hakari drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kullervo isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hakari stacks Kullervo on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hakari!
Kullervo is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Kullervo is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.

Hakari looking to secure an arm triangle but Kullervo defends it well.
Kullervo wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

That's one minute gone in the round.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Hakari controlling the positon.

Hakari controlling the position well here. Kullervo rolled but Hakari kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Kullervo is trying to break free.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kullervo tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Kullervo is breathing heavily.
Hakari lands a big shot there that rocks Kullervo but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Kullervo is working to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kullervo looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Hakari is riding his opponent, not letting Kullervo buck him off.
Hakari has the hooks in. Kullervo is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Kullervo trying to control the action but Hakari just sinks the hooks in.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kullervo tries to roll but Hakari sticks to his back.

Hakari is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Kullervo rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Hakari should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kullervo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hakari's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hakari's back!
Kullervo is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Kullervo gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Hakari wants to control his opponent's hands but Kullervo gets his hands free.

Kullervo is trying to stick to Hakari's back but Hakari is turning into Kullervo. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Kullervo's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hakari.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hakari content to stall in guard here.

Kullervo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hakari can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hakari fails with the takedown

and Kullervo moves into the clinch.

Kullervo works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Kullervo thows a big elbow that misses.

Hakari is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kullervo postures up.
Kullervo passes Hakari's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Hakari won't allow Kullervo to pass to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jwan Hakari will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kullervo misses with a wild body shot.

Kullervo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Hakari slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Kullervo chips away with some ground and pound.

Hakari looking for a triangle here. Kullervo is fighting it but it looks tight! Hakari pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Kullervo is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Jwan Hakari!
