The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gump shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Machado napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Machado tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Machado has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gump is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Machado off and has taken his back!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Machado drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gump manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Machado has Gump in his guard.

Gump drops back, looking for a kneebar! Machado looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Machado looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Machado!
Machado stands up and beckons Gump to his feet.

Gump steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Machado. That one must have hurt.
Gump shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gump was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Machado really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Machado wants to control but Gump is having none of it.
Gump throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
