Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hale Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Unitas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hale Hernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Unitas!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hernandez darts in and clinches Unitas up against the cage.
Hernandez lands an uppercut.

Hernandez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Unitas tried to score with a low kick but Hernandez checks it.
Hernandez throws a right and a left that Unitas avoids nicely.
Unitas gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Hernandez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Unitas circles away from the clinch attempt.
Unitas throws a body punch but Hernandez moves out of range.
Hernandez checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Hernandez tries to clinch but Unitas moves out of range.
Hernandez misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hernandez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Unitas manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hernandez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Unitas moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hernandez throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
A shot to the liver by Unitas. Beautiful body shot.
Hernandez misses with a straight left.
Hernandez leaves Unitas with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hernandez doesn't manage to clinch there - Unitas circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hernandez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Unitas throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hernandez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Unitas is in Hernandez's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hernandez wants to get back to his feet but Unitas is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Hernandez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hernandez is trying to keep Unitas in close.
Unitas wants to control from the top but Hernandez keeps moving.
Hernandez is looking to stand up but Unitas isn't so interested in that idea.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hernandez holds on and takes a little breather.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Hale Hernandez.

Unitas is looking to chop away at Hernandez's legs.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Unitas might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hernandez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Unitas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hernandez, who protects the arm well.
Unitas is looking to take a break and control but Hernandez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hernandez seems a little lost for a moment, as Unitas dominates the positioning.
Hernandez managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Unitas.
Hernandez trying to remain calm as Unitas controls from the top position.
Unitas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hernandez keeps working.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hernandez pushes Unitas away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Unitas gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Unitas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hernandez keeps working.
Hernandez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Unitas on the ground.

Unitas looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hernandez is staying active underneath Unitas, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Hernandez is trying to stand up here but Unitas is controlling him well.
Hernandez is refusing to be controlled, as Unitas sits in half guard.

Unitas is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hernandez won't allow Unitas to pass to mount.

Hernandez flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hernandez is trying to get back to full guard.
Unitas tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hernandez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Unitas wants to take a breather but Hernandez is having none of it.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Unitas takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by David Unitas.
Unitas shoots for a double leg takedown but Hernandez sprawls well. He's pushed Unitas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hernandez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hernandez getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Unitas tried to score with a low kick but Hernandez checks it.
Hernandez misses with a wild combination.
Unitas swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Hernandez goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Hernandez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Unitas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Unitas ducks under a wild hook from Hernandez.

Hale Hernandez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Unitas.

Unitas shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hernandez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Unitas controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Unitas drives through with a takedown into Hernandez's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Unitas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hernandez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hernandez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hernandez!

Hernandez decides to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hale Hernandez will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Unitas shoots in for a takedown but Hernandez shows good takedown defense.
Hernandez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Hernandez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hernandez is concentrating on defense, preventing Unitas from advancing position.

Unitas is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hernandez has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Unitas can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hernandez is looking to escape.

Unitas is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hernandez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Unitas is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Hernandez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hernandez shrugs it off.
Hernandez keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
You get the feeling that Hernandez really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Unitas throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Hernandez because Unitas loaded up on that one.

Unitas working for a submission but Hernandez is keeping him at bay.
Hernandez can't escape the position.
Hale Hernandez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Hernandez tries to hold on but Unitas pushes him away.
Unitas wants to control the pace but Hernandez is squirming around nicely.
Unitas misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
David Unitas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

David Unitas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
