Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Donnie Yen !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Herold Hassium!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Ivan Kurochkin and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hassium misses with a takedown attempt
and Yen counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Yen lands a big head kick that sends Hassium tumbling to the mat! Yen takes a step backwards and waves Hassium back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Herold Hassium has been cut.
Yen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Yen thows a body kick. Hassium tries to catch it but that hurt him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A nice leg kick lands there from Yen .
Hassium avoids the head kick by Yen .
That's one minute gone in the round.
Yen throws a sloppy head kick and Hassium moves out of range easily.
Yen throws a head kick that misses.
Hassium closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Yen did well to prevent Hassium getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hassium is working for a kimura but Yen is defending it quite comfortably.
Yen wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yen kicks off Hassium and gets to his feet.
Yen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hassium closes this distance looking for a takedown but Yen circles away.
Yen lands a head kick!
Donnie Yen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yen throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Hassium on the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Yen lands a big head kick that sends Hassium tumbling to the mat! Yen takes a step backwards and waves Hassium back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Hassium is rocked!
Yen connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Hassium out cold! This one is over in a flash!
