The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Saam Ante.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kula throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kula throws a leg kick

and Punk counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Punk.
Punk lands a left hand.

Punk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Punk shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kula pinned against the cage. Kula gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Punk throws a head kick that misses
and Kula counters with a left and a right that stings Punk.
A solid leg kick lands there for Kula.
Punk misses with a combination
and Kula counters with a head kick.

Kula tries to sprawl but Punk drives through with a takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Punk looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Brais Punk just wasn't active enough.
Sloppy strikes from Kula. Those never looked like landing.
Punk throws a sloppy head kick and Kula moves out of range easily.
Punk misses with a body shot.
Kula avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Punk darts in and clinches Kula up against the cage.
Kula is pressed up against the cage. Punk has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kula down to the mat. Kula avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Punk shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kula sprawls well. Kula wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Punk gets slowly back to his feet.
Punk is breathing heavily.

Kula is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Punk asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Punk is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kula will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Punk moves in looking to clinch but Kula pushes him off.

Kula wants to clinch up but Punk keeps it at a distance.

Punk lands with a kick to the temple. Kula shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Punk seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Kula takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Punk drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Kula takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kula is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Punk asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Punk is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kula is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Punk wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kula, who protects the arm well.
Kula is pushing Punk's head away, looking to escape. Punk manages to hold on to the position though.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
