Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dan Caldwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Shurk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shurk has chosen Achy Breaky Heart as his entrance music. The key to victory for Dan Caldwell has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caldwell throws a nice looking combination but Shurk bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
The crowd cheers as Caldwell lands an impressive looking overhand right. Shurk doesn't seem phased though.
Caldwell throws out a powerful jab.
Shurk tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Caldwell was well out of range. Poor timing from Shurk.

It looks like Shawn Shurk has been cut.
Caldwell cracks Shurk with a right hand to the side of the head.

Shurk has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Caldwell regains guard immediately.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Caldwell is on top in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Caldwell screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
