PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ghetto Zombie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos falls off balance throwing a combination

and Zombie counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Zombie looking to sit in guard and control but Santos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zombie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ghetto Zombie just wasn't active enough.

and Zombie makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santos wants to get back to his feet.
Zombie is trying to ground and pound but Santos uses the momentary lack of control by Zombie to regain half guard.

Zombie lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Santos circles away quickly and effectively.

Santos wants to get back to his feet but Zombie is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Santos walks into a straight right hand from Zombie.

and Zombie counters with a one-two to the body.
Zombie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Santos sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Zombie somewhat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Zombie bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Zombie takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Zombie goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Daniel Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santos tries to clinch up but Zombie circles away and keeps his distance.

It looks like Ghetto Zombie has been cut.

Santos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Santos throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Zombie's waist but Zombie gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Santos off to one side.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Zombie throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Santos was covering up waiting for the punch and Zombie finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Santos has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Zombie off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

You get the feeling that Santos really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Santos somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

Zombie is pressed up against the cage. Santos has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Zombie down to the mat. Zombie avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Zombie feints a jab promting Santos to slip. Zombie then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Santos slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Zombie is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Santos can do to turn this around?

Ghetto Zombie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Zombie, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
