PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Russian Bogatyr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malchik Spalchik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bogatyr comes to the ring accompanied by I just want you. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Dmitry Maklakov and Igor Prikhodko.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bogatyr explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Spalchik tries for a takedown but Bogatyr circles away easily

and Bogatyr counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bogatyr.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Spalchik working a defensive guard but Bogatyr manages to pass into side control anyway.

Bogatyr stands up and beckons Spalchik to his feet.

Spalchik gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Bogatyr misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Bogatyr can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Spalchik is looking to escape.

Spalchik tries to lock up and control but Bogatyr gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Spalchik reaches up to try and control the position but Bogatyr seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Spalchik rolls and tries to escape and now Bogatyr has his back!

Bogatyr doesn't have the hooks in and Spalchik manages to turn into his guard.

Spalchik got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bogatyr has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Spalchik has managed to get both his arms back between Bogatyr's legs - danger averted.
Spalchik won't allow Bogatyr to get back to his feet.
Spalchik stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bogatyr swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Bogatyr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Spalchik doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Spalchik manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Spalchik gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Spalchik feints and as Bogatyr raises his hands in defense, Spalchik changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bogatyr is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Spalchik is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Bogatyr is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Spalchik stands up and waves to Bogatyr to follow him.

Bogatyr gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Bogatyr is looking to stand up but Spalchik isn't so interested in that idea.
Spalchik stands and throws Bogatyr's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Spalchik remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Russian Bogatyr dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Spalchik wants to clinch.

Bogatyr takes the fight into the clinch.

Bogatyr tightens his grip and picks Spalchik up, before dumping him to the ground. Spalchik manages to land in guard.

Bogatyr could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Spalchik is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bogatyr defends well.
Spalchik is breathing heavily.

Bogatyr wants to stand but Spalchik is controlling his posture from full guard.
Bogatyr passes Spalchik's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bogatyr is trying to control the action in half guard but Spalchik is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bogatyr is looking to advance position but Spalchik won't allow it.
Spalchik regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Bogatyr.

Spalchik escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bogatyr gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Spalchik had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bogatyr defends it easily.
Bogatyr wants to pass the guard but Spalchik is keeping the position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Russian Bogatyr will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
