The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice combination there by Sakuraba.

It looks like Sasha Kasprov has been cut.
Kasprov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sakuraba pinned against the cage. Sakuraba gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kasprov looks to clinch
and Sakuraba makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Sakuraba looks to land a combination but Kasprov avoids it well.

Sakuraba gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kasprov fails to pull guard.
Sakuraba lands a nice elbow.
Kasprov tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sakuraba smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sasha Kasprov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sakuraba misses with a wild combination.
No joy there for Sakuraba, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sakuraba throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kasprov takes a kick to the side of the head.

Sasha Kasprov's cut is getting worse.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A solid leg kick lands there for Sakuraba.

and Sakuraba counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Kasprov! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Sakuraba!
