Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hevon Perse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maxim Otchenach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hevon Perse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Maxim Otchenach!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Otchenach on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Perse. Perse obviously looking to wear him down.
Perse wants to slow Otchenach down by chopping away at his legs.

Otchenach decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Otchenach stalling.

Otchenach decides to stand up.
Otchenach lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Hevon Perse has been cut.

Otchenach shoots in and gets a takedown into Perse's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Otchenach got a little sloppy there for a moment and Perse has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Otchenach has managed to get both his arms back between Perse's legs - danger averted.

Perse has an active guard here but Otchenach has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perse is breathing heavily.

Otchenach keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Otchenach passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Perse!
Otchenach lands a big elbow.
Perse is looking to get to half guard.
BOOM! Otchenach connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Otchenach lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Otchenach is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Perse is in real trouble.
Perse wants to get back to his feet.
Otchenach connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Perse to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Perse breaks Otchenach's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Perse will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Otchenach manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Perse tries to clinch up

and Otchenach counters with a shoot takedown. Perse fights it but they end up in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Otchenach is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Otchenach stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Perse swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Otchenach landing some decent shots from guard.

Perse is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Otchenach defends well.

Perse looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Otchenach works over Perse with some ground and pound from guard.

Otchenach drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Otchenach jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Otchenach seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Perse is looking for a triangle here but Otchenach uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Perse is looking to reverse the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Otchenach landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Otchenach looks up at the clock and then as Perse takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Otchenach smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Otchenach remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Perse really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Perse tries to buck Otchenach off but Otchenach is having none of it.
Otchenach is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Perse's shoulder. That is not cool.
Perse tries to get back to half guard but can't.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maxim Otchenach dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Hevon Perse's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Otchenach rushes Perse and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Perse throws a punch but it's blocked by Otchenach.

Otchenach escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hevon Perse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Perse tests Otchenach's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Perse throws a lazy head kick

and Otchenach counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Perse's guard now.

Otchenach thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Otchenach must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Perse is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Otchenach gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Perse gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Perse is looking for a triangle but Otchenach pushes his legs off easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Perse is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Otchenach defends well.

Perse is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Otchenach is aware though and is defending well.

Otchenach stands and steps away. Perse gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Perse buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Otchenach closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Otchenach lands in his opponent's guard.
Otchenach stays in close to Perse's body and controls the position.

Otchenach avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Perse is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Otchenach tries to free his leg and advance position but Perse is retaining full guard.
Otchenach wants to stand but Perse has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Otchenach stands up from Perse's guard - Otchenach perhaps looking for a knockout.
Perse throws a head kick that misses.

Otchenach has closed the distance and engaged Perse in a clinch.
Perse lands a hook that snaps the head of Otchenach backwards.

Otchenach's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Perse lands a head kick. Otchenach smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Otchenach clinches.

Otchenach is trying to trip Perse. He has hold of a leg but Perse is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Otchenach persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Perse has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Otchenach has passed into side control.

Perse tries to buck Otchenach off but Otchenach is having none of it.

Otchenach decides to stand back up.
Perse lands a really nice looking cross but Otchenach seems unphased.
Hevon Perse is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Otchenach moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

and Otchenach decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Perse's guard.
