Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Masakazu Imanari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masakazu Imanari!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pete Walker!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Imanari shoots in for a takedown but Walker shows good takedown defense.
No luck for Imanari with that takedown attempt.
Imanari fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Masakazu Imanari. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice sprawl there from Walker as Imanari shoots in.
Imanari looks to score with a jab to the body but Walker is just out of range.
Imanari throws a head kick that misses.
Walker keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Imanari misses with a wild body shot.
Imanari shoots in but Walker avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Imanari tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Imanari shoots for a takedown but Walker saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Imanari swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Imanari shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Imanari throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Imanari has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Imanari is looking for a kimura here.

Imanari is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Imanari is breathing heavily.

Walker is looking for a sweep. Imanari is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Imanari tries to pass to full mount but Walker defends it.

Walker looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Walker wants to control but Imanari is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Imanari connects with a nice short shot to Walker's temple.
Walker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Imanari. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Imanari is looking for a kimura but Walker is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Imanari to get the leverage.
Walker is pressing down on Imanari's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Imanari has gone for a leg lock! Walker slips out almost immediately though and dives into Imanari's guard.

Walker gets to his feet - Imanari follows without any prompting.

Imanari fails with a takedown attempt.
Imanari swings for the body but Walker moves out of range.

Walker moves into the clinch successfully.
Imanari jumps guard but Walker stands there with Imanari around his waist. Imanari gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Imanari tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Walker smiles and moves away.
Imanari is looking to wear down Walker with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Imanari looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Imanari is working for a kimura but Walker is defending it quite comfortably.
Imanari looks to land a strike but Walker avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Imanari scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Imanari postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Walker keeping full guard, as Imanari tries to pass.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Imanari trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Imanari working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Imanari sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Walker's guard.
Imanari working over Walker with some ground and pound. Walker looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Imanari works his foot free and advances to mount.
Walker is trying to escape the mount.
Walker in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Imanari fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Imanari throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Walker has his hands clasped together but Imanari breaks the hold and Walker is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Imanari!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Masakazu Imanari!
