Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Collin Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Kosilov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Collin Johnson is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Collin Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Kosilov!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson tries to move into range but Kosilov moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Johnson shoots for a takedown but Kosilov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Johnson doesn't manage to clinch there - Kosilov circles away.
Kosilov on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Johnson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kosilov counters with a left and a right that stings Johnson.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Collin Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Johnson closes the distance but Kosilov moves to the side
and Kosilov counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Johnson moves into the clinch.
Johnson is trying to drag Kosilov to the mat but Kosilov just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Johnson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kosilov shoots in but no luck this time.

Johnson clinches up with Kosilov and pushes him back against the cage.

Kosilov closes the distance and clinches.
Kosilov goes for a takedown in the clinch but Johnson prevents it.
The referee calls for Kosilov to work.
Johnson wants a takedown.
A bit of stalling here from Johnson.
Johnson is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Kosilov jumps guard but Johnson stands there with Kosilov around his waist. Kosilov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Johnson is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Kosilov wants a takedown but no success here.
Johnson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kosilov is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Kosilov doesn't manage to clinch there - Johnson circles away.
Some bone on bone action there as Johnson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Kosilov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Johnson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kosilov counters with a one-two to the body.
Kosilov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kosilov as he jumps to the side.

Kosilov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Johnson sprawls well. Johnson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kosilov gets slowly back to his feet.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches.
Johnson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kosilov is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Johnson pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Johnson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kosilov tries to work over Johnson's front leg with a kick but Johnson checks it.
Johnson thuds his shin into the meat of Kosilov's side.

Johnson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kosilov, pushing him back against the cage.
Kosilov gets underhooks to prevent Johnson's takedown attempt.
Kosilov is trying to force a seperation but Johnson has the dominant position.

Johnson breaks from the clinch.
Collin Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A nice inside leg kick there by Johnson. That's going to slow Kosilov down.
Kosilov misses with a takedown attempt - Johnson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kosilov is defended easily by Johnson.
Johnson tries a head kick but it misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sergei Kosilov will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Kosilov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Johnson sneaks back into half guard.
Johnson tries to roll over but Kosilov keeps him under control.

Johnson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kosilov is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Collin Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Johnson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kosilov to the mat! Kosilov manages to get full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kosilov is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Let's hope that Kosilov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Johnson gets to his feet - Kosilov follows without any prompting.
Johnson shoots in for a double leg but Kosilov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kosilov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away.
Johnson fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Collin Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kosilov shoots in for a takedown but Johnson shows good takedown defense.

and Johnson moves into the clinch.
Kosilov gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Johnson.

and Kosilov counters with a right hand to the body.
Johnson slaps away a takedown attempt from Kosilov, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Johnson shoots for a takedown but Kosilov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kosilov leaves Johnson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Johnson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kosilov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A close second round but Sergei Kosilov will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Some bone on bone action there as Johnson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Horrible takedown by Kosilov or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson which made him look bad.
Kosilov throws a half hearted mid kick.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kosilov enables Johnson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kosilov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Johnson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kosilov is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Johnson, into his guard.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kosilov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Johnson is tightening it up a little... Kosilov has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Kosilov reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Kosilov taps out! nice BJJ there by Johnson!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Collin Johnson!
