Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ashford Lincoln!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Damien Daiz!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lincoln fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Daiz to the ground. Lincoln is now in Daiz's guard.
Lincoln thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Lincoln with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Lincoln working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Lincoln pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Daiz is keeping the position for now.
Lincoln has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lincoln stands and steps away. Daiz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
A head kick by Daiz misses
and Lincoln counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Daiz's guard now.
Daiz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lincoln is one step ahead there.
Daiz wants to control the position but Lincoln says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lincoln is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Daiz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lincoln.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Lincoln landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Lincoln stands up and beckons Daiz to join him on the feet.
Daiz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lincoln dodges the punch combination from Daiz.
Lincoln closes the distance and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lincoln decides to pull guard.
Daiz postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lincoln is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Daiz, into his guard.
Lincoln drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Lincoln seems to have locked his on tight now - Daiz screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Lincoln, as he picks up the win!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Ashford Lincoln!
