Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mareko Siaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikhail Brezhnev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brezhnev has chosen Coheed and Cambria - Devil in Jersey City as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mikhail Brezhnev!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Siaki has his takedown stuffed
and Brezhnev cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Brezhnev swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A head kick by Siaki misses
and Brezhnev counters with a two punch combo.
Brezhnev scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Siaki doesn't seem bothered though.

Brezhnev has Siaki up against the cage in a clinch.
Brezhnev lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Brezhnev prevents Siaki from breaking the clinch.
Siaki has had enough of the clinch but Brezhnev keeps him there for the moment.
Brezhnev scores with a shot to the side of Siaki's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A left hand lands to the body for Brezhnev.

Brezhnev lands a left hand that snaps the head of Siaki backwards.
Siaki fails to pull guard.
Brezhnev is pressed up against the cage. Siaki has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Brezhnev down to the mat. Brezhnev avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mareko Siaki. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brezhnev throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Siaki's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Brezhnev dives in looking to finish as Siaki flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Brezhnev's strikes! Brezhnev is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Siaki's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Siaki was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
