PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steven Angero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taj Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simpson has chosen Enter Sandman as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Angero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Taj Simpson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angero shoots in and drives through. Simpson sprawls well.
Angero misses with a takedown

and Simpson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Simpson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Simpson is looking to stand up but Angero won't let him.

Angero escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Simpson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Angero looking for a guillotine here but Simpson defends easily.
Simpson showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Angero looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Angero has his foot on Simpson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Simpson works his way back into a safe position though.

Angero has his feet on Simpson's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Simpson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Angero as he jumps to the side.
Simpson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Simpson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Simpson throws a big right hand that misses.
Angero is breathing heavily.
Simpson postures up in Angero's guard and throws a big left but Angero blocks it.
Simpson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Angero is working an open guard so Simpson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Simpson wants to clinch
and Angero counters with a head kick.

Angero clinches up with Simpson and pushes him back against the cage.
Simpson wants a takedown.

Simpson gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Angero regains guard.

Angero working for submissions but it's allowed Simpson to get to half guard.

Simpson thows an elbow strike that misses. Angero gets hold of full guard and has managed to get a loose guillotine attempt. Simpson doesn't seem too bothered but Angero quickly shifts his position and has tightened the hold! Simpson is in big trouble now - he's going a funny colour - he's tapping out! Nice finish there! Simpson really should have spotted the danger earlier though... either incompetence or over-confidence has resulted in a big L on his record.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Steven Angero!
