Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy Crane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephen Kven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kven is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Captain Entrace. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kven closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Crane quickly recovers to half guard.
Crane regains full guard. Nicely done.
Kven is looking to work some ground and pound but Crane has wrist control.
Crane is looking to stand up but Kven isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crane looking for a sweep. Not yet Crane, not yet.
Crane is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Crane decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Kven lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Kven looks to land a combination. Crane sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Kven scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fight stays on the outside here - Kven looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kven moves into range and clinches up with Crane.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
A frustrated look appears on Crane's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Kven lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Kven avoids the attempt from Crane to control.

Kven postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Crane looks a forlorn figure.

Kven is landing with some decent strikes but Crane is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Kven really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Crane. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kven cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Crane tries to reverse the position but Kven maintains control.

You get the feeling that Crane really doesn't like being in this position too much.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Poor strikes thrown by Kven there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephen Kven dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A punch combination from Crane misses.

Kven gets a clinch.

Kven's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kven throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Crane was covering up waiting for the punch and Kven finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Crane is adopting a defensive guard.
Crane wants to get back to his feet but Kven is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kven is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Crane has his feet on Kven's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Crane drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Crane decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Kven throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Crane.
Kven pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Crane back to the cage. Kven follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Crane bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kven tries to strike but it doesn't land.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andy Crane dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Kven takes a kick to the side of the head.

Kven drives through and clinches with Crane against the cage.
Crane is trying to force a seperation but Kven has the dominant position.
Crane wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kven keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Crane's efforts to push away.
Kven lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Crane misses with some punches.

Crane escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kven fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kven tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Crane stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Crane gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kven goes for a takedown in the clinch but Crane prevents it.
Crane tries to work over Kven's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Kven lands with a short shot to the head.
Crane is trying to break the clinch but Kven is controlling him.
Crane stops a takedown attempt from Kven.
Andy Crane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stephen Kven.
Crane wants to break free but Kven has control.
Kven has Crane pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Crane manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Crane is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kven is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
