PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jari Harrikari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nolan Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harrikari comes to the cage accompanied by Tool - Forty Six & 2 . Martin is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by War - The Sick Puppies. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jari Harrikari!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nolan Martin!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harrikari doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Martin counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Martin.
Martin misses the shot to the body.
Harrikari pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Martin bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Martin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Harrikari sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Martin throws a poor cross that misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Martin throws a series of punches but Harrikari avoids them all with ease.
Martin misses with a low kick.
Harrikari steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Martin.
Jari Harrikari seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Harrikari makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Martin really felt that one!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
An inside leg kick from Martin misses.
Martin takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Martin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Harrikari avoids it really well and circles away.
Harrikari lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Harrikari tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A looping hook to the body misses from Harrikari. Martin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Harrikari keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jari Harrikari has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nolan Martin.
Harrikari misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Martin.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Martin throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Harrikari counters with a two punch combo.
Harrikari misses with a wild body shot.
Harrikari moves out of range of the strikes.
Martin throws a lazy uppercut
and Harrikari counters with a nice kick to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jari Harrikari will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Harrikari scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Harrikari tries to score with a low kick but Martin moves his leg out of the way.
Martin avoids the body shot from Harrikari.
Harrikari throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martin slips under a jab from Harrikari.
Martin works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harrikari throws a quick inside leg kick.
Harrikari stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Harrikari wants it to stay on the feet.
Martin thows a leg kick but Harrikari checks it
and Harrikari counters with a leg kick.
Harrikari misses with the body kick
and Martin counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Harrikari misses with a right hand
and Martin counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Martin lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Harrikari goes down and covers up as Martin starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nolan Martin!
