Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Butterworth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trevor Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Butterworth moves into the clinch.

Butterworth decides to pull guard.
Butterworth is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Butterworth is on top in guard.

Butterworth prevents Thompson from getting back to his feet.

Butterworth drops back looking for a leg! Thompson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Thompson manages to kick Butterworth off! Butterworth jumps back into Thompson's guard.

Thompson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Butterworth. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Butterworth has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Thompson is squirming around, avoiding Butterworth's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Butterworth misses with a body punch
and Thompson counters with a series of strikes. Butterworth will be more careful next time no doubt.

Butterworth closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Thompson quickly recovers to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Butterworth wants to take a breather but Thompson is having none of it.
Butterworth lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Thompson is trying to stand back up but Butterworth is controlling him
Butterworth seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thompson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Thompson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Butterworth wants to take a breather but Thompson is having none of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Butterworth takes a little break here. Thompson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Butterworth is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Thompson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Butterworth wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thompson keeps working.

Butterworth is working to tighten is grip on Thompson's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Thompson has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Butterworth is really squeezing tight and eventually Thompson passes out! Butterworth breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
