Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mercury Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen Everybody Knows My Name as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mercury Jones!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Turner sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Turner tests Jones's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Turner fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jones moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like James Turner has been cut.
Turner misses with the combination.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Turner counters with a takedown into side control.

Jones tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Turner wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Jones is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Turner tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Jones.

The fighters are battling for position here. Jones manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Turner trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Turner pushes down on Jones's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Turner drops back looking for a leg! Jones is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jones manages to kick Turner off! Turner jumps back into Jones's guard.

Jones looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Turner puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Jones scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Turner manages to mount him!

Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jones is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jones is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Turner looking to control and managing it successfully.

Turner is working for a guillotine from mount but Jones frees his head quite easily.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Turner takes the fight into the clinch.
Jones wants to get back to striking at distance but Turner won't allow it.

Turner misses with a knee strike.

Turner tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.

Turner is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Turner looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Turner counters with a nice uppercut.
Jones connects with a jab.
Turner throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
