The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Babineaux takes a swing at Maia's ribcage but misses.

so Maia counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Maia postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Babineaux is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Maia, into his guard.
Babineaux won't allow Maia to sweep him here.

Babineaux got a little sloppy there for a moment and Maia has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Babineaux has managed to get both his arms back between Maia's legs - danger averted.

Maia has his foot on Babineaux 's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Babineaux works his way back into a safe position though.

Maia is looking for a triangle but Babineaux pushes his legs off easily.
Babineaux knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maia on the ground.

Maia is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Babineaux frees his head nicely. Oh but Maia has switched to an armbar! Babineaux is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
