PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Killer Boom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colin Millen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Killer Boom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Colin Millen!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Millen counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Millen fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Boom shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Boom controlling the pace for now.
Millen is trying to escape the mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Boom takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Millen is wriggling around trying to escape.
Boom could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Boom looking to control and managing it successfully.
Millen regains half guard.
Boom stalling.

Killer Boom has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Boom stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Millen.

Boom gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Millen counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Boom is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Millen pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Killer Boom. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Millen tries to land knees in the clinch but Boom avoids the damage to the body.
Boom wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Millen.
Millen working hard to break the clinch.
Boom effectively controlling the action here.
Millen lands an elbow inside that Boom shrugs off.
Boom has Millen pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Millen manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Millen is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Boom is defending well for now.

Boom wants the takedown. Millen is fighting it off but Boom persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Millen's guard against the cage.

Millen has his foot on Boom's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Boom works his way back into a safe position though.

Boom preventing the sweep.
Boom pushes down on Millen's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Millen is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boom looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Millen wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Killer Boom will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Millen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Boom is looking to reverse the position.
Boom can't do much from the bottom here.
Boom tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Millen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Boom is trying to control Millen's posture but Millen avoids it.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Boom is not content to let Millen control the position.

Boom struggling a bit here.
Millen slows the pace down.
Boom is trying to improve his position.
Millen trying to control the action but Boom is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Boom struggling a bit here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Boom misses with a takedown attempt
and Millen counters with a big head kick but Boom shrugs it off.
Millen scores with a spinning back kick!
Millen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Boom blocks a head kick by Millen.

Millen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Boom manages to get to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boom not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Boom wants to hit a switch here but Millen passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Boom there!

Millen controlling his opponent.
Boom wants to control but Millen is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Millen looking to control but Boom is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Millen controlling from mount.
Boom tries to hold on but Millen pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Colin Millen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Boom changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Millen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Boom tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
A lull in the action here as Boom stalls from top position.

Boom working away.

Boom trying to control the action but Millen is working from the bottom.
Millen is trying to get back to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Boom slows the pace down.
Millen is holding Boom down, trying to stall.
Millen is trying to control Boom's posture but Boom avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Boom shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Millen counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Millen shoots in and gets a takedown into Boom's guard.
Millen controls from within his opponent's guard.
Boom is trying to keep Millen in close.
Millen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Millen trying to control the position from guard on top but Boom is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boom controlling the position.
Boom will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Boom tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Boom shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Millen counters with a good, hard body kick but Boom shrugs it off.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Colin Millen.
I think Millen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
