PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sgt Parrotface (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jones's choice of entrance music: Saliva - Ladies and Gentlemen. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Oscar Jones was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Sgt Parrotface!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Oscar Jones!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the body from Parrotface misses

and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Parrotface's guard now.
Parrotface looking to control.

Parrotface is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.
Jones scoring with punches to the head and body.
Jones working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Parrotface's head.
Jones looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Jones got a little sloppy there for a moment and Parrotface has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jones has managed to get both his arms back between Parrotface's legs - danger averted.
Parrotface might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Parrotface is on top in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jones wants to stand and escape but Parrotface is having none of it.

Parrotface drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jones looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jones looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jones!
Jones tries to advance to mount but can't.
Jones working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Jones misses with the ground and pound.

Jones cracks Parrotface with a big right hand but Parrotface just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Jones looks up at the clock and then as Parrotface takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jones smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Parrotface manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Jones is just content to waste time from the top position. Parrotface takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jones landing some decent shots from guard.
Jones slips nicely into half guard.
Parrotface has hold of Jones's hands but Jones slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Jones moves into full mount! Parrotface won't be happy about that!
Parrotface flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jones lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oscar Jones dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Jones shoots in looking for a takedown but Parrotface manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jones's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Parrotface walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

and Jones counters with a shoot takedown. Parrotface fights it but they end up in guard.
Parrotface utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jones wants to control from the top but Parrotface keeps moving.
Jones won't allow Parrotface to sweep him here.

Parrotface is looking for a triangle but Jones pushes his legs off easily.
Parrotface avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Jones trying to control but Parrotface is working from the bottom.

Jones stands up over Parrotface, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Jones advances position into side control!
Parrotface prevents Jones from improving position.
Jones lands an elbow.
Jones in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Parrotface is trying to get back to half guard.

Jones is working Parrotface over with some ground and pound from side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones lands some shots froms side control.
You can see the frustration on Parrotface's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Parrotface takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Jones has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Parrotface!
Jones is landing with some decent strikes but Parrotface is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Parrotface keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Parrotface bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Jones and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Oscar Jones!
