The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lizard tries to clinch up but Salsalani circles away and keeps his distance.

Salsalani really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

and Lizard takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Angelo Lizard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lizard wants to control but Salsalani is keeping him busy.

Lizard stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Salsalani throws a looping overhand right but Lizard ducks down to avoid it.

Lizard has his foot on Salsalani's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Salsalani works his way back into a safe position though.
Lizard controls Salsalani momentarily but Salsalani frees himself.

Lizard wants to control from the top but Salsalani keeps moving.
Lizard slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Salsalani is trying to hold Lizard in close to prevent damage but Lizard has managed to pass into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Abdul Salsalani will probably get the nod.

Lizard fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Salsalani to the ground. Lizard is now in Salsalani's guard.

Salsalani knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lizard on the ground.
Salsalani looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Lizard is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
