Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 22 - 0, fighting out of New York, Happy Gunderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quinton Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Steve Montenegro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gunderson to the mat! Gunderson manages to get full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but Gunderson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gunderson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gunderson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Johnson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gunderson is aware though and is defending well.

Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gunderson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Johnson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gunderson did well to prevent Johnson getting side control.
Johnson wants to take a breather but Gunderson is having none of it.
Johnson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gunderson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gunderson's head.
Johnson wants to stand but Gunderson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gunderson keeps working.

Johnson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Gunderson still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Gunderson has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Gunderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gunderson has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Gunderson is working to tighten is grip on Johnson's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Johnson has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Gunderson is really squeezing tight and eventually Johnson passes out! Gunderson breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
