Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Simon Standa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Unigu Rege (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 52 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simon Standa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Unigu Rege!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Bruno Lombardi and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rege tried to score with a low kick but Standa checks it.
Standa closes the distance but Rege moves to the side

and Rege counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Rege content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Let's hope that Rege has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Rege stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Standa to get to his feet.

Standa gets caught napping as Rege dives in and scores a takedown. Standa manages to retain guard.
Rege trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Standa tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rege stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Standa swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rege drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rege jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Rege trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Rege decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Standa, up you get!

Standa gets caught flat footed, as Rege shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rege controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Standa trying to keep a closed guard but Rege is proving a slippery customer.

Rege decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Rege closes the distance and pushes Standa back into the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rege has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Standa is trying to keep an underhook but Rege manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Standa wants to get back to full guard.
Rege tries to pass the half guard into mount. Standa knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Standa is breathing heavily.
Standa is looking to control Rege's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Standa avoid being mounted?
Rege is keen to just control but Standa is a slippery customer.

Rege decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Rege shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Standa as he jumps to the side.
Standa swings widly with a right hand

and Rege counters with a nice double leg into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rege trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Rege stands and steps away. Standa gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Rege lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Standa backs up against the cage.

Rege throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Standa tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rege is in Standa's guard.
Rege passes Standa's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Rege is nestled in close to Standa, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Rege landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Rege is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Rege is thwarting Standa's attempts to control the position.

Rege slows the pace down in half guard.
It looks like Rege might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Rege seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rege moves into full mount! Standa won't be happy about that!
Rege takes Standa's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Standa is in trouble.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rege has a takedown stuffed.
Standa slaps away a takedown attempt from Rege, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Standa misses with a jab, cross combination.

Rege shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Standa manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Standa tries to strike from the bottom.
Rege prevents Standa from getting back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rege stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Rege shoots in and bounces Standa off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Rege decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Sloppy strikes from Rege. Those never looked like landing.

Rege is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Standa's half guard.

Rege looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Rege wants to pass the guard but Standa is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rege stalling.
Rege is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Standa!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rege landing strikes, looking to finish!
Rege takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Rege has control of Standa's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Standa regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Rege lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Rege connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Unigu Rege showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Rege looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Standa is fending him off so far but Rege persists. Nope, Standa circles away and we're back to standing.

and Rege decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Standa's guard.
Rege is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Rege gets to his feet. Standa looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rege.

Rege scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Rege takes a little break here. Standa wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rege decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Rege shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Standa manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Standa looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rege puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Rege takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Standa wants to improve his position but Rege is controlling well.
Unigu Rege has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Standa is trying to escape back to his feet but Rege uses the scramble to pass into side control.
The referee asks Rege politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Rege prefers to stall for the moment though.
Rege's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Standa gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Unigu Rege is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Rege takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Unigu Rege was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Rege throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Standa was covering up waiting for the punch and Rege finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Rege's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Rege slips nicely into half guard.

Rege decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Rege closes the distance and pushes Standa back into the cage.
Rege drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Standa gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Simon Standa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Unigu Rege.

Rege has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Standa clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rege biding his time, looking for the opening.

And that's the end of the fight!
Unigu Rege comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Rege winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
