Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brijwanth J (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Merrick McMasters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brijwanth J!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Merrick McMasters!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
J throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McMasters.
J stuffs the takedown.
McMasters shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has J pinned against the cage. J gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
McMasters shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Brijwanth J has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Merrick McMasters.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
J throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
McMasters shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has J pinned against the cage. J gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
J throws a series of punches but McMasters avoids them all with ease.
J misses with a series of wild punches.
McMasters tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but J swivels and escapes.
A punch combination from J misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McMasters fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
McMasters will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
J scores with a jab to the body.
McMasters looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? J is fending him off so far but McMasters persists. Nope, J circles away and we're back to standing.
J swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
J throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
J misses with an uppercut. McMasters saw that one coming.

McMasters shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
McMasters prevents J from getting back to his feet.

McMasters drops back looking for a leg! J is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and J manages to kick McMasters off! McMasters jumps back into J's guard.
J is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McMasters is controlling him.
McMasters pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. J is keeping the position for now.
McMasters trying to control but J is working from the bottom.
J is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
J knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McMasters on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
J has a closed guard, preventing McMasters from standing up.
McMasters looks gassed!
J wants to stand but McMasters is controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McMasters fails to land the takedown.
J will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A combination from J does no damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brijwanth J dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


McMasters tries for a takedown but J sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
J with a body punch. A glancing blow.
J throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McMasters stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A combination from J does no damage.
McMasters slips a straight right by J.
McMasters misses with a takedown attempt - J sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
J looks to score with a jab to the body but McMasters is just out of range.
McMasters is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick misses from J.
McMasters slips under a jab from J.
McMasters shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says J as he avoids it easily.
Brijwanth J has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Merrick McMasters.
J throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
J lands with an uppercut that bounces McMasters off the ropes and back into rage.
McMasters shoots in for a double leg but J sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McMasters ducks right into an uppercut from J.
J misses with an uppercut. McMasters saw that one coming.
J changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
McMasters has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from J finds it's way round the side to connect with McMasters's head.
J throws the left hand but McMasters avoids the punch easily.
McMasters avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
McMasters slips a straight right by J.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
J swings for the body but McMasters moves out of range.
McMasters shoots in looking for a takedown. J tries to sprawl out of it but McMasters keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. J manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
J bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps McMasters's head backwards.
J thows a left - swing and a miss!
J scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
J throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
J rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McMasters moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
J blocks a jab.

McMasters shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in J's guard.
J keeping moving, preventing McMasters from controlling successfully.
McMasters won't allow J to get back to his feet.
McMasters stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. J swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brijwanth J dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Nice sprawl there from J as McMasters shoots in.
J misses with a hook

and McMasters counters with a single leg into guard. J didn't expect that.
McMasters trying to control the position from guard on top but J is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
J is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McMasters is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McMasters stands and throws J's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
J tries to escape but McMasters is in control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
J moves out of range as McMasters throws a body kick.
A choreographed right hand from J misses the target.
A clash of legs there as McMasters blocks the low kick.
McMasters has a takedown stuffed.

McMasters shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
J wants to get back to his feet but McMasters is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McMasters accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
J is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McMasters is controlling him.
McMasters wants to control from the top but J keeps moving.

McMasters is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

J wriggles free and stands up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McMasters shoots in but J avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Brijwanth J has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Merrick McMasters.
J throws a lazy uppercut
and McMasters counters with a nice leg kick.
J fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches McMasters on the side of the head.
McMasters tries to move into range but J moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Some wild striking there from J.
McMasters closes the distance and clinches up with J, looking for a takedown. McMasters pushes J against the ropes but J circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
J waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract McMasters.
Some wild striking there from J.
J tries a head kick but it misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McMasters shoots in for a takedown but J shows good takedown defense.
J throws a series of punches but McMasters moves out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
Merrick McMasters comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think J has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
