The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gein stalks Rua and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rua's face. Rua staggers backwards, shaken.
Rua throws a head kick but Gein moves out of range.
Gein blocks the body kick.
Gein lands a nice shot that snaps Rua's head back.
Rua needs to keep his hands up - Gein had a free shot at his head there.
Rua checks a low kick from Gein.
Rua throws a sloppy head kick and Gein moves out of range easily.
Rua falls off balance throwing a combination
and Gein counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Rua thinking.

Gein goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Gein connects with a good right hand that stumbles Rua. Rua circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

and Gein counters with a series of strikes. Rua will be more careful next time no doubt.
Rua is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Gein.
Gein throws a nice looking combination but Rua bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gein throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rua on the side of the head.
Rafael Rua is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Gein looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rua with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Gein wants to free his trapped foot but Rua is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Rua is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gein pulls his head out easily.

Gein got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rua has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gein has managed to get both his arms back between Rua's legs - danger averted.
