Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Remy Bonjasky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stefan Roosmalen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stefan Roosmalen has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Remy Bonjasky's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Remy Bonjasky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stefan Roosmalen!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bonjasky misses with a leg kick

and Roosmalen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bonjasky's guard.
Roosmalen throws a big right hand that misses.
Roosmalen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bonjasky swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Roosmalen stands and throws Bonjasky's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Bonjasky wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Roosmalen wants to control but Bonjasky is keeping him busy.
Bonjasky on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bonjasky tries to get out of the position.

Roosmalen throws a strike aimed at the side of Bonjasky's head but Bonjasky avoids it well.
Roosmalen controlling the position.
Roosmalen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bonjasky keeps working.
Roosmalen advances to full mount.
Roosmalen wants to control the pace but Bonjasky is squirming around nicely.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
A nice elbow there by Roosmalen.
Roosmalen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Roosmalen jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Bonjasky manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Roosmalen wants to control but Bonjasky is keeping him busy.

Roosmalen advances to full mount.

Roosmalen working for a guillotine from mount but Bonjasky is in no mood to give up.
Bonjasky's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Roosmalen thowing shots but they're missing.
Roosmalen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Bonjasky wants to try and get back to his feet.

Roosmalen looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Bonjasky is squirming around, avoiding Roosmalen's attempts to control the action.
Roosmalen throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Bonjasky because Roosmalen loaded up on that one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stefan Roosmalen dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Bonjasky takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Roosmalen shoots in for a takedown but Bonjasky shows good takedown defense.
Roosmalen throws a nice outside leg kick.
Bonjasky throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Roosmalen counters with a body kick.
Bonjasky throws a sloppy head kick

and Roosmalen counters with a single leg into guard. Bonjasky didn't expect that.
Roosmalen trying to control but Bonjasky is working from the bottom.
Roosmalen wants to pass the guard but Bonjasky is keeping the position.
Roosmalen passes Bonjasky's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Roosmalen is looking to take a break and control but Bonjasky is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Roosmalen passes the guard and advances to mount!
Roosmalen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Roosmalen lands a big shot there that rocks Bonjasky but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Roosmalen throws some wild stikes that Bonjasky manages to avoid easily.
Roosmalen tries to control but Bonjasky wriggling away.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Roosmalen is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Bonjasky to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bonjasky shrugs it off.

Roosmalen landing strikes from the mount and Bonjasky is in trouble!
Roosmalen trying to control but Bonjasky is having none of it.
Bonjasky is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Roosmalen looking to ground and pound but Bonjasky is blocking nicely.
Roosmalen thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Roosmalen lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Stefan Roosmalen has got the better of the ground game so far.
Roosmalen controlling from mount.
Roosmalen throws some wild stikes that Bonjasky manages to avoid easily.
Roosmalen tries to control but Bonjasky wriggling away.
Bonjasky is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stefan Roosmalen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Roosmalen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bonjasky avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Roosmalen.
Roosmalen throws an elbow but Bonjasky slips to the side and avoids it well.
Roosmalen trying to control the position but Bonjasky is working away.
Roosmalen creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bonjasky sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
A lull in the action here.

Roosmalen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Roosmalen passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Bonjasky!
Bonjasky knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Roosmalen on the ground.
Roosmalen sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Roosmalen has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Bonjasky's face.

Roosmalen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Roosmalen is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Roosmalen extends the arm and Bonjasky is forced to tap!
