Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Veri Palttu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zhang Xianfa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xianfa throws a lazy right hand but Palttu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Xianfa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Palttu did well to prevent Xianfa getting side control.
Xianfa seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Palttu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Xianfa is working away from the top position though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Palttu is trying to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Xianfa in particular looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Zhang Xianfa.
Xianfa misses with the combination.
Palttu throws a series of punches but Xianfa avoids them all with ease.

Xianfa lands with a hook. Palttu tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Xianfa cracks Palttu with a right hand to the side of the head.

It looks like Veri Palttu has been cut.

and Xianfa counters with a three punch combo that has Palttu backing up. Palttu nods at Xianfa to acknowledge the strikes.

Palttu looks to land a combination. Xianfa sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Xianfa throws a nice looking combination but Palttu bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Xianfa throws a push kick but Palttu slaps the foot to one side.

and Xianfa counters with a series of strikes. Palttu will be more careful next time no doubt.
Oh Palttu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Xianfa throws a series of punches but Palttu avoids them all with ease.

Palttu misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Palttu rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Xianfa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Palttu throws a left and a right that both miss
and Xianfa counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Palttu off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Xianfa follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Palttu was out before he hit the floor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Zhang Xianfa!
