Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy Bobberson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bobberson with a poor takedown
and Johnson counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Johnson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Johnson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Bobberson. Bobberson circles away out of range and recomposes himself.


It looks like Billy Bobberson has been cut.

Bobberson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Johnson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Bobberson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Johnson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bobberson has Johnson in his guard.

Johnson drops back looking for a leg! Bobberson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bobberson manages to kick Johnson off! Johnson jumps back into Bobberson's guard.

Johnson has gone for a leg lock! Bobberson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Johnson's guard.

Bobberson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Johnson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Johnson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Johnson!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Johnson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Bobberson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Johnson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bobberson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Johnson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Johnson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bobberson is just riding it out for now. Johnson eventually gives up the hold.
Bobberson is looking to improve his position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Johnson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bobberson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Johnson is working hard here to advance position.

Johnson is working for an americana but Bobberson has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Johnson was thinking about the submission.

Bobberson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Bobberson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Johnson!

Bobberson looking to secure an arm triangle but Johnson defends it well.
Bobberson wants to take Johnson's back but he can't do it this time.

Bobberson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Johnson manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Johnson wants to control but Bobberson postures up.

Bobberson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bobberson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bobberson tries for a kimura but Johnson is defending well.
Johnson tries to improve position but can't.

Bobberson has hold of Johnson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Johnson seems comfortable defending it but Bobberson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Johnson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Johnson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Bobberson couldn't care less - he's delighted!
