PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Man D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Home Grown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think D might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Prodigy - Firestarter. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Home Grown!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grown lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but D circles away quickly and effectively.
Grown will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Grown goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Grown keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

D closes the distance and clinches.
D blocking some punches.
Grown goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Grown is struggling to control the position.
Grown prevents D from breaking the clinch.
D lands a knee to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Grown is pushing D up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

D tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

D leaning his opponent against the cage.
D unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Grown can't find room to land a body shot as D controls the action.
Grown letting D take a breather here.
Grown is looking to control D's arms but D gets an underhook and turns him. Now Grown has his back to the cage.
The referee calls for D to work.
A quick uppercut on the inside from D.
D swings wildly with an uppercut but Grown uses good head movement to avoid it.
D is pushing Grown up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
D throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Grown on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
With the fighters up against the cage, D throws an elbow but misses.
D is trying to break the clinch but Grown has him pressed against the cage.
D manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
D tries to land knees in the clinch but Grown avoids the damage to the body.

D breaks from the clinch.
Grown doesn't manage to clinch there - D circles away.
Some bone on bone action there as D checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Grown scores with a jab to the body.
D slips under a jab.
D scoring well with a low kick there.
Home Grown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
D throws a low kick but it's checked well by Grown.
Nice body kick from D.
Grown looks gassed!
Grown moves out of range of the body kick from D.
D steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Grown.
Grown pulls out of a head kick attempt.
D tries to clinch up but Grown circles away and keeps his distance.
Grown throws a leg kick that misses.
A clash of legs there as Grown blocks the low kick.
D fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Grown is out of range.
D misses with a body shot.
D's corner calls for a 1-2. D obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Grown looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
D slips a jab from Grown.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
D scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Grown avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Grown keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
D swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Nice defenses there by D.

D lands a big right hand that sends Grown crashing to the mat! D stays standing though and waves Grown back to his feet!
D throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Grown throws out a loose jab but D uses good head movement to avoid it.
D lands with a thumping leg kick.

D has managed to clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Grown avoiding damage as D throws knees to the body.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, D creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
D tries to land knees in the clinch but Grown avoids the damage to the body.
D will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Grown up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Man D dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Grown throws a hook but D avoids it easily.
D connects with a crisp jab.
D fakes the body blow, causing Grown to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Grown goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
