Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Takanori Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomi kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Scary. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

and Gomi makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
McDonald just misses with a punch to the body.
McDonald shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gomi as he avoids it easily.

McDonald throws a body punch but Gomi moves out of range.
McDonald misses with a takedown attempt - Gomi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Gomi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gomi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gomi misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

McDonald is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gomi connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused McDonald some visible discomfort.
Gomi tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gomi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McDonald, who protects the arm well.
McDonald is looking to get back to his feet here but Gomi is keeping cool and he's managed to take McDonald's back.
