The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gun throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gun swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Slavich decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Slavich closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gun quickly recovers to half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Slavich decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gun's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Slavich shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Gun gets tackled into the cage by Slavich. Slavich maintains the clinch.

Gun is pressed up against the cage. Slavich has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gun down to the mat. Gun avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Slavich doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Gun just misses with a punch to the body.
Gun dodges the punch combination from Slavich.
Gun circles away from the clinch attempt.
Slavich throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gun's waist but Gun gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Slavich off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rocko Slavich. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gun lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The fighters circle momentarily. Gun darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Slavich shoots in looking for a takedown but Gun manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Slavich's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
