Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thunder Struck!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sean Benoit!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benoit keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Struck.
Benoit throws the kick towards the body but Struck avoids it.
Struck scores with a jab to the body.
Benoit takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Benoit swings widly with a right hand
and Struck finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Benoit swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Struck counters with a big head kick but Benoit shrugs it off.
Benoit goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Struck lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

letting Struck counter with a right hand.

A telegraphed right hand from Benoit misses the target.
Nice straight punches there by Struck. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Struck.
Struck misses with a low kick.
Struck tries to land a front kick but Benoit steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Struck throws a sloppy head kick and Benoit moves out of range easily.
Struck throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Benoit.
Benoit misses with an uppercut. Struck saw that one coming.

Struck clinches up with Benoit and pushes him back against the cage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Struck pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Benoit swinging wildly here.

and Struck counters with a head kick. That will keep Benoit thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Struck ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Benoit moves away.

and Benoit counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Struck is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Benoit makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Struck makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Struck fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Benoit.
Struck on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Benoit lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

and Struck counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Benoit takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Some bone on bone action there as Benoit checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Struck is looking to wear down Benoit with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Benoit connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

and Struck counters with a body kick that stops Benoit in his tracks momentarily.

Struck works Benoit's body with a nice hook.

and Struck counters with a good low kick that Benoit was not able to check.
Sean Benoit has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Struck's jab looks to have found its range, popping Benoit under the eye.
