The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Der Hoef lands a nice looking kick to the body. Brown takes a step back to recover.
Brown will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Brown rushes Van Der Hoef and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Brown is trying to break the clinch but Van Der Hoef is controlling him.
Van Der Hoef is pushing Brown up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Brown has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Van Der Hoef escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Van Der Hoef instigates a clinch.
Brown tries to break free but Van Der Hoef pushes him back against the cage.

Brown can't get the takedown.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Brown changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Van Der Hoef fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gio Van Der Hoef has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cody Brown.

Van Der Hoef wobbles Brown with a right hand and the left hook that follows puts him on his rear! Van Der Hoef dives in with a huge flying punch that connects right on the button and puts Brown to sleep! - What a violent and spectacular finish!
