The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Briggs gets a double leg takedown into Rua's guard.
Rua being controlled here, momentarily.
Briggs is in close to Rua's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Rua keeping full guard, as Briggs tries to pass.
Briggs postures up.
Briggs has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rua looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Briggs sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Rua throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Briggs lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Briggs postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Briggs trying to control the position from guard on top but Rua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rua tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Briggs forces his way into half guard.
Briggs scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Rua tries to get to full guard but Briggs has control of the leg.
Briggs winds up and cracks Rua with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Briggs seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Rua is rocked!

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Briggs lands a nice short elbow.
Oh Rua is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rua taking some punishment here, with Briggs in his half guard.
Briggs is controlling the pace.
Rua seems to have got his legs back now.
Briggs is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Briggs connects with a nice short shot to Rua's temple.

Briggs takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Briggs drops an elbow to the side of Rua's head.
Briggs passes the guard and advances to mount!
Rua is breathing heavily.
Briggs putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Briggs postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Rua is out cold - huge knockout for Briggs!
