Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Wrassle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Aha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Wrassle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Aha!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wrassle throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Aha tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wrassle is in Aha's guard.
Wrassle loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aha looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Wrassle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aha on the ground.
Aha is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wrassle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Aha thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wrassle throws and elbow that misses. Aha uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wrassle's guard. Nice move by Aha!
Aha wants to control from the top but Wrassle keeps moving.
Aha forces his way into half guard.
Aha has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wrassle landing small, sideways elbows.
Aha is trying to control. Wrassle wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Aha thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Aha is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wrassle sees it coming and defends easily.
Wrassle missing with punches from the bottom.
Wrassle is trying to get back to full guard.
Aha is thwarting Wrassle's attempts to control the position.

Aha is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Wrassle as he works his way to full guard.
Wrassle is trying to control the position but Aha postures up.
Wrassle wants to hit a switch here but Aha passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Wrassle there!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Aha looking to ground and pound but Wrassle is blocking nicely.
Aha can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wrassle is looking to escape.

Wrassle defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Aha.
Aha misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Wrassle tries to reverse the position but Aha maintains control.

Aha working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Wrassle tries to hold on but Aha postures up.

Aha has control of Wrassle's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Wrassle regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Aha thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Aha wants to control the pace but Wrassle is squirming around nicely.
Aha thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Aha goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Wrassle turns into him and now he's in Aha's guard.
Wrassle is looking to work some ground and pound but Aha has wrist control.
Wrassle passes into half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Aha avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Wrassle.
Wrassle thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Aha's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Joe Wrassle will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Wrassle misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Aha.
Aha misses with a head kick.
Aha doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Wrassle counters with a nice double leg into side control. Aha won't be happy with that.

Wrassle is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Aha has escaped the position, nice work there.
Aha sneaks back into half guard.
Wrassle thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Aha's head.
Wrassle misses with a head shot. Aha uses the momentum to regain guard.
Wrassle in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wrassle postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Aha trying to keep a closed guard but Wrassle is proving a slippery customer.
Aha bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wrassle's guard.
Wrassle has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Aha stopping the sweep attempt from Wrassle.
Aha showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Wrassle not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Aha stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wrassle swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wrassle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aha is one step ahead there.
Wrassle on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wrassle tries to get out of the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Wrassle throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Aha was covering up waiting for the punch and Wrassle finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Aha utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Aha avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Wrassle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aha swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Aha uses the cage to get back to his feet.
A head kick misses from Aha.
Aha throws the kick towards the body but Wrassle avoids it.
Aha slips a straight right by Wrassle.
David Aha seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wrassle fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Aha is looking to land body kicks.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Aha!


It looks like Joe Wrassle has been cut.

Wrassle shoots in and gets a takedown into Aha's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wrassle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Wrassle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Aha is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Aha manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wrassle manages to get himself to full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Joe Wrassle will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Wrassle fails to land with a series of punches.

Aha feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Wrassle controls Aha momentarily but Aha frees himself.
Wrassle lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Aha!
You get the feeling that Aha really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Wrassle putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Joe Wrassle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Wrassle lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Aha hang on?


Aha is rocked!
Wrassle cracks Aha with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Wrassle!
