PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nintendo Takada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Minoru Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Suzuki has chosen Sunrise as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nintendo Takada!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Minoru Suzuki!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takada cracks Suzuki with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Suzuki slips a jab from Takada.
Takada scores with a shot to the body.
Horrible takedown by Takada or perhaps it was just good defense by Suzuki which made him look bad.
Takada throws the left hand but Suzuki avoids the punch easily.
Takada fails with a takedown attempt.
Suzuki ducks under a wild hook from Takada.

Suzuki feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Suzuki trying to control but Takada is working from the bottom.
Suzuki is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Suzuki passes into half guard.
Takada is looking to improve his position.

Takada is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Suzuki's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Suzuki's back!
Takada is trying to stick to Suzuki's back but Suzuki is turning into Takada. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Takada's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Suzuki.

Takada escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Suzuki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Suzuki stays in close to Takada's body and controls the position.
Suzuki stands up over Takada, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Suzuki forces his way into half guard.
Takada is looking for a sweep. Suzuki is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Suzuki scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Takada is refusing to be controlled, as Suzuki sits in half guard.

Takada is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Suzuki pulls his head out easily.

Takada actively working from the bottom here.
Takada has hold of Suzuki's hands but Suzuki slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Takada moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Suzuki is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Takada working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Suzuki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Suzuki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Takada working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Suzuki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Suzuki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Takada is breathing heavily.
Suzuki trying to control the position from guard on top but Takada is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Takada looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Suzuki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takada swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Suzuki wants to control from the top but Takada keeps moving.

Takada working for a triangle but Suzuki defends it easily.
Suzuki makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Takada working for submissions but it's allowed Suzuki to get to half guard.
Suzuki is keen to just control but Takada is a slippery customer.
Suzuki slips a nice elbow through Takada's hands, connecting with Takada's forehead.
Suzuki is controlling the pace.
Suzuki uses his free foot to push down on Takada's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Takada.
Takada is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Takada is working hard here to advance position.
Suzuki trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Takada looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Suzuki connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Takada to escape the position.
Takada tries to roll but Suzuki sticks to his back.
Suzuki lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Suzuki doesn't have the hooks in and Takada manages to turn into his guard.
Takada won't allow Suzuki to sweep him here.
Takada pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Suzuki is keeping the position for now.
Takada thows a big elbow that misses.
Suzuki lands a decent punch to the body there.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

That's five minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Takada ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Suzuki moves away.
Takada doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Suzuki counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nintendo Takada. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Takada tries to get to full guard but Suzuki has control of the leg.
Suzuki controlling the action here.
Takada wants to improve his position but Suzuki is controlling well.

Takada looking for submissions off his back.
Suzuki uses his free foot to push down on Takada's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Takada.
Takada is looking to improve his position but Suzuki isn't that keen on the idea.

Suzuki is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Takada is surviving well by controlling Suzuki's body position as best he can.
Takada regains half guard.
Takada is pressing down on Suzuki's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Takada looking to hit a scissor sweep but Suzuki is one step ahead there.

Suzuki avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Takada is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Suzuki frees his head nicely. Oh but Takada has switched to an armbar! Suzuki is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Nintendo Takada!
